About Ewa Herbst, PhD
Dr. Ewa Herbst is the president, CEO, and founder of h2med LLC, a startup company that develops novel technical solutions for biomedical research and clinical applications. Dr. Herbst's research, as well as her research and development (R&D) experience, includes work in both academia and private industries in the US and Sweden. She specializes in the area of electric and electromagnetic field effects on living tissue and tissue regeneration, and in the development of new technology platforms for biomedical applications.Before founding h2med LLC, Dr. Herbst led her R&D company, Herbst Research, Inc. for 14 years. Prior to that, she was a principal research engineer at Electrobiology, Inc., where she focused on an implantable bone stimulator product line. She was also the Swedish finalist for the National Institute of Health (NIH) Fogarty International Fellowship, in August, 1986.After moving to the US, Dr. Herbst was a visiting professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, from 1986 to 1988; and later at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the 1988-89 academic year. While still in Sweden, she worked in the Pacemaker Division of Siemens-Elema AB in charge of the R&D efforts for electrical stimulation of bone healing utilizing implantable pacemaker technology--a project that originated in her PhD Thesis.Dr. Herbst has extensive experience in multidisciplinary research and has led or collaborated on several multidisciplinary projects involving tissue culture work, animal studies, clinical case studies, electronic design, and various evaluation methods.
